Workforce Challenge
PBY Plastics, Inc. is a small company that was on the verge of growing.
"We were preparing to relocate to a new facility and we wanted to know how to best utilize the space for our current needs as well as be able to easily expand in the future," said Daniel Garrett, President of PBY Plastics, Inc.
Workforce Solution
When Dan learned about the San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board's LEAN Manufacturing Program with California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC), it was the perfect opportunity.
"The CMTC team helped my staff understand the process improvement tools and techniques which was essential as we relocated," he said. "Looking at our systems from quote to ship and identifying wasteful activities helped streamline our customer service and saved us money."
Outcomes & Benefits
The LEAN Manufacturing program funded by the San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board has allowed PBY Plastics, Inc., to retain eight positions and hire three additional employees. They also helped upgrade the company's website, which will become a key driver for sales.
"With CMTC's help, we saved $12,000 in relocating and setting up our shop and we've seen a 20% increase in sales," Dan said. "The San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board's help made all the difference in our our ability to move forward and achieve these results."
