Meet Timothy

Workforce Challenge

Timothy was a school teacher in Rochester, MN, for fourteen years. He also drank very heavily and often drove after drinking. He received a DUI in May, 2004, and resigned from his job. After he got sober, he went back to school and was paying for graduate-level classes while working part-time.

Workforce Solution

A classmate and Workforce Development, Inc. employee told him about WDI's scholarship program for people who had been through hardships and were trying to forge new careers for themselves. Tim was eligible, and applied. WDI's ARRA-funded scholarship program paid for the last nine credits of graduate school for Timothy. It was invaluable to him.

Outcomes & Benefits

Timothy is completing his internship this summer and will then take the exam to become a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
