Meet Raheem

Workforce Challenge

Raheem had worked several years at a call center before being laid off in July 2012. He only had a high school education and at the time which made it difficult for him to find suitable employment.

Workforce Solution

Raheem was enrolled in the Trade Adjustment Act (TAA) and Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs. TAA paid for tuition, books and all training costs for an his associate's degree in accounting. WIA provided funding for supportive services (i.e. gas cards) while in training.

Outcomes & Benefits

Raheem received his degree in accounting in December 2014 with a 4.0 GPA. Notably, he was also employed before he even graduated. He is now working as an expense specialist in finance making a very sustainable salary.
