Meet Ella

Workforce Challenge

Ella first came to the Adams County Workforce & Business Center with her son, Ronomy, to enroll in the Workforce Investment Act Youth Program. A week after applying to the Youth Program, Enrollment Staff contacted Ella to follow-up on Ronomy's case. At this point Ella expressed a loss of motivation in her own job search as she reported struggling to find employment in her field.

Workforce Solution

Enrollment staff invited her to come into the workforce center for a change of setting, as she had consistently been using another local workforce center. Ella scheduled an appointment for the next day and arrived on-time. She was introduced to her career coach by enrollment staff and was given a series of tutorials for identifying the O*NET code, deciphering appropriate pay scales and recognizing saturation rates to find the most in-demand jobs.

Outcomes & Benefits

Ella was able to identify a job close to her residence within the first twenty minutes of self-job searching. She applied to the job with a resume complied with help from her local workforce center and left with a renewed sense of perseverance.
