Meet Trace

Workforce Challenge

Trace was enrolled into the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Program as an 11th grader. He attends Mountain Range High School and has always wanted to attend Bollman Tech Education Center (a school that offers specialized career and technical training not otherwise offered through area high schools), but was worried about paying the school fees.

Workforce Solution

The WIA Youth Program was able to provide financial support for Trace to attend EMT classes at Bollman Tech. Trace told his case manager that, "Without your support I wouldn't have done this." Trace was able to focus on his work and not on how he was going to pay for his school fees and books.

Outcomes & Benefits

Trace graduated from Mountain Range in May 2015 and is planning on attending Red Rocks Community College for a degree in fire science. Trace is still working towards completing the EMT test and has interviewed with Denver Health for a job opportunity.
