Meet Marcus

Workforce Challenge

Marcus came to WIOA program requesting CDLA training. He was laid off from Baker Hughes where he worked as an Equipment operator full time making 16.50 hr. His budget was -380.00 as he has not yet applied for UI benefits. He has a BA degree in Business Administration but because he didn't work in that field he was not getting hired. He had been laid off 3 times from his last three employers and felt that having a CDLA license will give him more job stability and a better income.

Workforce Solution

Marcus was assisted with the UI benefit process and questions and concerns he had about applying for benefits in order to be financially stable throught his training. He was approved for his CDLA training and attended CDLA college and graduated on time. He received resume assistance and case manager guidance on resumes and job searching.

Outcomes & Benefits

Marcus found employment making more than he was making prior his layoff and he is working locally full time. He is earning $20/hr plus mileage. He is working for a reputable company which he stated that because of his degree and the benefits that his company offers their employees he will have to opportunity to grow with the company and utilize his degree once he has more experience under his belt. He is excited to have been able to find a better opportunity than what he thought he had!
