Meet Samuel

Workforce Challenge

Samuel came to the workforce seeking assistance with his GED. For Samuel, earning his GED is more than just a certificate; it is an opportunity to continue his residency in the United States.

Samuel is under the deferred action for childhood arrivals which is expiring next year. In order to renew his DACA, he must meet the educational guidelines and be enrolled in a school or obtain his GED.

Workforce Solution

Samuel was enrolled in the WIOA youth program to get assistance with his GED and other supportive services as needed.

Outcomes & Benefits

Customer completed his enrollment and decided to attend the GED preparation classes at the WBC which will begin on January 10, 2016. He will re-apply for DACA and in the near future, he wants to become a counselor to get promoted within the company. His employer has encouraged Samuel to do so and he is motivated to advance in his career.
