Workforce Challenge

Jacob* had completed the Machine Tool Technology Program at the Tennessee Technology Center, but was having trouble finding a job. He came to the ETHRA Workforce Center for assistance with his search.

Workforce Solution

At the Center, Workforce Development staff worked with Jacob to develop his interview skills and a professional resume that would help him put his best foot forward with employers.

Then, workforce staff connected Jacob with an On The Job Training opportunity to work as a Tool & Die Apprentice. WIA also was able to assist with some supportive services during this time, such as transportation costs and money for uniforms/work attire.

Outcomes & Benefits

Jacob is learning many skills in his job, and his employer says he is a good employee. He is happy with his new position and says that he wouldn't be there if it were not for the WIA programs.
