Meet Jessie*

Workforce Challenge

Jessie* came to the Career Center for help enrolling in Dual Credit classes while she was a senior in high school. Dual credit classes are taught at the high school and offer the participant college credit after completing the class and taking an assessment approved by the college granting the credit.

Workforce Solution

Workforce Development assisted Jessie with identifying and enrolling in Dual Credit classes. During this same time period she participated in the Summer Youth Program and worked at the Community College in the reception area. Jessie was chosen to attend the Youth Leadership Academy as one of the "Best of the Best" at the end of her work program.

Outcomes & Benefits

Currently, Jessie is attending the local University and has completed 52 credit hours. She is participating in a work-study program at a child development lab where she works with infants. Jessie has already been offered a summer job which she'll combine with taking summer classes at the University. She will be applying for the Nursing program this fall.
