Kathleen is an single parent who recently moved to Arizona from New Jersey. She came to the Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) after being unsuccessful in her job search. She wanted to work with people as a caregiver, but lacked current skills that would help her secure a job in the healthcare field.
Kathleen attended a Caregiver Class sponsored by NACOG. After the class, NACOG assisted Kathleen with other employment requirements, such as additional training, a CPR card, fingerprint clearance and TB testing. In addition, Kathleen was able to obtain some scrubs as part of a donation program through a local uniform store.
Outcomes & Benefits
Kathleen obtained a job as a full time caregiver at $10.00 per hour. The health care field is growing and the position fits her need to work with people. With her new job and skills, Kathleen is establishing a new life in Arizona.
