Workforce Challenge

One of the tasks Barbara Boles faced as Director of Human Resources for the Cincinnati Reds was to see that the organization was staffed with 900 seasonal workers for the 2005 season. About 25% of these positions need to be new hires every year. Boles needed access to a large applicant pool and she also needed the ability to screen applicants and hire them quickly.

Workforce Solution

By partnering with the SuperJobs Center, Boles was able to create a new hiring process for seasonal labor for The Reds that involves directing applicants to the SuperJobs Center for a seasonal hiring event. At the Center, staffers guide job seekers through the list of open positions and have them read the job descriptions. After completing a brief qualifications profile, viable candidates are referred to Barbara to take the next steps to employment.

Outcomes & Benefits

By 2009, the relationship between the Reds and SuperJobs had evolved into an efficient, cost effective solution. In addition, Boles shared, “Working with the Center allows us another opportunity to be involved in the community and to create jobs."
