Meet Jamaine

Workforce Challenge

Jamaine was laid off from her Customer Service Representative position in June 2009. Not wanting to be idle while unemployed, she came to Lorain County’s One-Stop, The Employment Network, to learn more about her options. Jamaine quickly learned that this was the organization that could help her go back to school, as well as help her find a better job.

Workforce Solution

Jamaine worked with a Customer Service Representative at The Employment Network who guided her through the entire process of career decision making, labor market research, and training provider identification in such a way that she didn’t feel overwhelmed. Jamaine is certain that being so comfortable and confident with her training choice ultimately helped her succeed in her training program. She chose to become a State Tested Nurses Aide (STNA), and was approved for funding to attend training at the EHOVE Career Center.

Outcomes & Benefits

Jamaine completed her training in March 2010, and immediately accessed additional services at The Employment Network to better prepare herself for the job search. After participating in these services she was able to find not one, but two jobs. Jasmine is now happily employed full-time at Westbay Nursing Home as a STNA. According to Jamaine, “Losing your job can be a terrible thing. If you find yourself out of work and/or in need of training, The Employment Network is the right place to be."
