Meet Michael

Workforce Challenge

The Kintock Group (a provider of re-entry services for ex-offenders) referred Michael to the Cumberland County One Stop Career Center after his release from serving 10 years in prison. Michael was determined to leave his past behind him and envisioned a clean and productive future for himself. However, as an ex-offender it is extremely difficult to secure employment. The Cumberland One-Stop, as a partner of the Kintock Group, would assist Michael with re-entry into the workforce.

Workforce Solution

With the help of the One Stop, Michael found employment with Ashley's Furniture Store on April 30, 2007. He was promoted from sales associate and is currently making a comfortable wage to support his family. The One Stop Career Center opened the door to a stable career to enable him to support his family and rebuild his life.

Outcomes & Benefits

Michael has earned an associate's degree in Business from Cumberland County College and is currently working on getting two more degrees. He is enrolled in CCC, and taking classes for a degree in Criminal Justice. He is also working towards a bachelor's degree in business from Wilmington University.
