Teri

Workforce Challenge

Teri was laid off from her job as a Shipping Clerk earning $11.25 per hour in 2009. She completed the KCP assessments and scored high in manufacturing, but had limited skills and experience in this field.

Workforce Solution

Teri was provided training through the PACES program for CNC Milling certification. She also received transportation assistance. Once training was complete Teri was referred to the business team for job placement assistance. She received customized resume assistance and received job referrals. Teri continued to job search for nearly a year without success. In the meantime, TECT Aerospace was looking to fill a CNC machinist position. Teri was contacted by the business team to see if she was interested and her resume was forwarded to the employer. TECT Aerospace interviewed several potential candidates, but Teri was the person who stood out. Shortly thereafter she was placed in an OJT through the Boeing OJT Grant.

Outcomes & Benefits

Teri completed the OJT and was hired as a permanent employee by TECT Aerospace earning more than she was prior to her layoff.
