Workforce Challenge

Russell lives 50 miles outside of Wichita and was struggling to find work. He knew the oil companies were moving into the area and they would be needing truck drivers soon. He did not have any experience in the field, but knew if he had the opportunity to learn he would be good at it.

Workforce Solution

Russell went through WIA eligibility and qualified for training services. When he met with his Workforce Professional he was concerned about the cost of fuel to drive to Wichita five days a week for five weeks. Russell was offered supportive services fuel assistance)to help ease the burden on his family budget.

Outcomes & Benefits

Russell completed his CDL training and was almost immediately hired by a local company earning $18.00 per hour. Russell will work locally and be home with his family every evening and weekend.
