Terrie

Workforce Challenge

Terrie was laid off from her previous position and due to some physical limitations, she wasn't able to return to the type of work she had done in the past. She had experience working in offices doing secretarial work, but lacked recent experience which caused some difficulties finding an office job that she deemed best suited for her physical condition.

Workforce Solution

The Disability Resource Coordinator met with Terrie and discussed the possibility of taking the Microsoft Word Certification class at the Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation's School of Adaptive Computer Training. Terrie jumped at the opportunity and successfully earned her Microsoft Word Certification.

Outcomes & Benefits

Terrie credits the Word Certification and the skills she learned through the DEI funded CPRF class as the catalyst that resulted in her full-time employment as a receptionist at a local Wichita company.
