Freida

Workforce Challenge

Frieda had been unemployed for over a year. As an older job seeker she felt her technology skills were out of date. She described herself as a creative people person but being out of the workforce for so long left her feeling she had lost her edge.

Workforce Solution

Frieda enrolled into the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). While on SCSEP, Frieda was paid to perform 20 hours per week of community service for local agencies. This allowed her to explore employment potential at a variety of sites. This paid training provided Frieda with a current work history. Additionally, SCSEP paid for Frieda to attend a computer class at the local community college, and paid Frieda to attend the class. Additionally Frieda was sent to an intensive customer service training workshop.

Outcomes & Benefits

With the paid trainig she received on SCSEP Frieda was able to start her own successful business as a message therapist and home health aide contractor.
