Karen

Workforce Challenge

Karen came to the Workforce Center unemployed and receiving assistance from the state. She previously worked for a local company earning $10, in a field where she did not see herself progressing. She had already obtained her CNA and HHA certifications, but wanted to pursue her Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to make herself more employable in the health care industry.

Workforce Solution

The Workforce Center helped Karen with tuition assistance and uniform costs associated with her CMA program. She also worked with a Career Coach who helped her obtain her Money Smart and Basic Employability Skills Training workshop certifications and provided her with guidance throughout her training program.

Outcomes & Benefits

Karen completed her CMA and secured employment with a local health care employer. She is now able to thrive in the health care industry and is on a career pathway to gain additional certifications/licenses, should she choose to do so in the future.
