Kathryn

Workforce Challenge

Kathryn was laid off in November of 2011 from the aviation industry. Though Kathryn had a wealth of valuable work experience, she did not have a degree specific to engineering. An update in her education was necessary to get her back into the workforce.

Workforce Solution

With assistance from the Dislocated Worker program, and eventually the Kansas Engineering Excellence Program, Kathryn began to work on her bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

Outcomes & Benefits

After two semesters in school, Kathryn was hired by a local company to design equipment for commercial and industrial kitchens. Kathryn remained in her degree program and credits her education in propelling her in a new direction. She has gained a wealth of new skills, and she is grateful for the opportunity.
