Valerie

Workforce Challenge

Valerie was laid off from a high paying job in the manufacturing industry, and was interested in a career change that would lead to employment where she did not have to fear future layoffs. Valerie did not have enough money to pay for training due to the recent layoff and having to live on unemployment.

Workforce Solution

After hearing about the Wichita Workforce Center, Valerie inquired about tuition assistance to help with a career change. After completing a career assessment, Valerie decided to train for the healthcare industry and pursue an education in Medical Billing and Coding.

Outcomes & Benefits

Shortly after completing her training program and working with a workforce professional to connect with available positions, Valerie was hired by a local company earning $17.00 as a billing specialist. Not only did Valerie's training qualify her for this position, but working with the workforce professional to receive job alert emails led directly to successful employment.
