Meet Neesha

Workforce Challenge

Neesha needed additional income to allow her and her 2 children to be self-sufficient. She was working as a CNA and having to work weekends and evenings and daycare was very hard for her to find. Neesha was also in default with her financial aid and she didn't think she could go back to school and didn't know where to turn.

Workforce Solution

During her initial assessment, we discussed various career opportunities that were in demand in the area. We talked about different career interests and she indicated that she wanted to be a Medical Assistant. She liked both the personal care and also the administrative part of the medial field. WIA was able to assist her with her first semester until her financial aid was out of default. She is now back on track with her financial aid and is earning straight A's in the Medical Assistant Program. She completed her first semester in January, 2013 and will complete an internship following her current semester.

Outcomes & Benefits

Neesha has received an A in every class of the Medical Assistant Program. She completed all workshops that were available including financial literacy which will assist her as she begins earning a higher wage than ever before. She will complete the full program and take her state test by June 2013.
