Meet Angela

Workforce Challenge

Angela was laid off from a correctional facility in April 2009. Being from a small town, employment was very hard to find. She was not able to relocate as her husband had a good job locally.

Workforce Solution

Angela was always interested in the healthcare industry. WIA assisted her in paying for her CNA and CMA. Angela found a job and worked as soon as she earned her license. While working as an aide Angela pursued her education further and completed her general education requirements for the LPN program. In August, 2010 Angela started the LPN program and completed it in May, 2011. Wages for the LPN program were still under self-sufficiency for her family. In June, 2011 Angela was transitioned into the KHPOP program which would allow her to complete the RN program. She was accepted into the RN program and that started in August, 2011.

Outcomes & Benefits

Angela completed the RN program in May, 2012 with very high scores and is now working for a hospital in her area at a very good wage. Angela was very thankful for everything that WIA and the KHPOP program were able to do for her and her family.
Angela is pursuing her BSN online on her own as time allows.
