Meet Emily

Workforce Challenge

Emily, a young 17 year old single mother of one, was referred to us by the Learning Center. She was just a few weeks from having her high school diploma completed. Emily was in need of assistance to complete her educational goals that she had set to become a nurse.

Workforce Solution

With the assistance of the WIA youth program Emily was able to enroll in 12 hours of general education courses that she needed for her LPN. The WIA program was able to assist her in supports of travel, child care and also a basic allowance so she could focus on her education. WIA also assisted her financially in her CNA and CMA class. She also attended workshops that taught her job search and career readiness.

Outcomes & Benefits

Emily has completed all of her general education courses and her CNA and CMA classes with very high grades. Emily has applied and is waiting to see if she will be accepted into the LPN program. She is so thankful for the WIA program.
