Meet Heather

Workforce Challenge

Heather was referred to WIA from the Adult Basic Education program. She was a single parent with barriers to employment. She lacked her H.S. Diploma/GED and had minimal occupational skills.

Workforce Solution

Heather was interested in working in the nursing field. We put together an Individual Employment Plan for Heather that included a time line and financial assistance to obtain her GED, then move on to becoming a Certified Nurses Aide (CNA).

Outcomes & Benefits

With a plan in place it gave Heather the confidence to focus on what needed to be done. She completed her GED quickly and enrolled in a CNA class. She successfully completed CNA and decided to increase her qualifications by taking a Phlebotomy class. Heather is now working in a job she thoroughly enjoys and has certifications to ensure she can provide for her family.
