Meet Robert

Workforce Challenge

Robert was laid off from 2 jobs in 4 years due to the business closing and economic conditions causing lack of work. Robert took a minimum wage job at McDonald’s and decided to start taking General Education classes for a Nursing program.

Workforce Solution

Robert moved to a new area to pursue his Nursing dream and was referred to the local Workforce Center. He had one more Gen Ed class and a CMA class left when he applied to Nursing school before Christmas. He was working hard and waiting for good news.

Outcomes & Benefits

In February, Robert received the news he had been waiting for, a letter stating he had been accepted into the nursing program. He was ecstatic! At that time, he was also taking Intermediate Algebra as a self-paced course. Robert finished the course in 8 weeks with an A. His instructor was impressed with his hard work and had this to say about him, "I have taught the course in its present form to 54 students between this year and last. Robert had the second best final score of all my students. He also completed the class 8 weeks early." What a success!
