Ashton

Workforce Challenge

Working part-time as a lab tech/phlebotomist and attending college was a struggle for Ashton. Her lack of financial resources made it hard to make ends meet and jeopardized her ability to stay in school and complete her RN degree.

Workforce Solution

Ashton sought assistance from the Workforce Centers of South Central Kansas. Ashton received help with tuition, fees, books, uniforms, and a background check associated with RN licensing requirements. The college was a significant drive from her home and the Workforce Centers also helped alleviate her transportation barrier by providing fuel assistance to get her to and from class.

Outcomes & Benefits

Less than one month after obtaining her RN degree, Ashton gained full-time employment earning $19.88 per hour.
