Meet Dwight

Workforce Challenge

Mr. Dwight Brown began using JobSource services in summer 2011.

Workforce Solution

After discussing his short and long term employment goals with his WIA Case Manager, Janet Hanke, his Individual Service Strategy was aimed at a new career as an Electrician. Fortunately, the MESP program was in full swing and Mr. Brown was able to participate in a Pre-Apprenticeship Electrical Training Program coordinated by the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee of the NECW/IBEW Local Union #26 and funded with MESP funds.

Outcomes & Benefits

The Business Services Representative, Barbara DeHenzel worked diligently to find employment opportunities for Mr. Brown in that field, but the construction industry has not bounced back in the local area. Mr. Brown’s need for immediate employment prompted the BSR to contact a small, local manufacturing company about employment possibilities. Mr. Brown was hired by that company and is currently employed learning their manufacturing operations. He hopes to use his electrical training as he moves up with the organization. He has stopped by the office more than once to thank the BSR and Case Manager for their assistance.
