Meet Donald

Workforce Challenge

Staff originally met with Donald on July 24, 2012, to discuss possible paths toward finding employment.

Workforce Solution

He received Rapid Response services from DLLR and the Howard County Office of Workforce Development staff due to the closing of his employer Jessup Logistics. Donald’s recent work experience had been as a Warehouse worker with Jessup Logistics, which ended in January of 2012. He had expressed interest in participating in a training program to make him more marketable and find employment that would offer similar pay. After establishing the need for training and researching labor market demand we found a CDL program that was a match for his background at Anne Arundel Community College. There funding was a combination of program funds from the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and the Maryland Energy Sector Program (MESP).

Outcomes & Benefits

After completing the training Donald was able to acquire employment with D.M. Bowman (based in Williamsport) as a Truck Driver. Donald expressed the gratitude of being able to tap into our resources and services in order to have found another better paying career path.
