Meet Beth

Workforce Challenge

56 year old Beth Skoll met with a Career Specialist, Jennifer Eberhardt, here at Frederick County Workforce Services, FCWS, on 8/10/11 after being laid off as a Business Analyst after her contract ended with Jacobs Technology on 7/29/11 where she was employed for 6 months. Beth has a certificate in Professional Human Resources and 31 college credits and dreamed of having a job as an Executive Administrator or Office Manager of Operations.

Workforce Solution

Beth needed help with resume revision and direction. She took the resume class at FCWS and worked with her Career Specialist and a Resume Doctor to get her resume fixed. Her revised resume lead to her securing interviews including one with Raytheon. Beth was also concerned about her interview skills. So she took Interview Success classes and did a practice interview with her Career Specialist and another one with a FCWS Board Member. Mock interviews gave her feedback and boosted her confidence. Interviews helped prepare her for the future interviews with companies. Lastly, Beth struggled with confidence and needed encouragement and someone to reflect with about her concerns relating to securing a position. To accomplish this she met on a regular basis with her Career Specialist to receive reflection, advice and encouragement. Beth was motivated and acted on suggestions and built up her confidence along the way.

Outcomes & Benefits

When Beth finished with all the services and assistance she was able to go to five interviews with Raytheon and was selected for the position of Executive Administrative Assistant. She started her new job on 10/17/2011. Beth stated that she was very happy with Fredrick's services and “pushed every button we had as far as resources.”
