Meet Clifton

Workforce Challenge

Mr. Sterling was laid off from his position as a Sales Consultant with a local area funeral home. He has a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, and yet has been unsuccessful in finding employment in his field for over 2 years. He was looking for assistance with increasing his marketability through training.

Workforce Solution

Mr. Sterling received both core services from a Career Resource Specialist and intensive services from a career consultant at the Hunt Valley Workforce Development Center. Sterling also received services through POAC and Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation Pathways to Cyber Security program. Sterling used resource/center services to work on his resume and hone his job search strategies before eventually attending the Intensive and Training Orientation to enlist the help of a Career Consultant. He sought Workforce Investment Act funds to get Cyber Security training and completed the program.

Outcomes & Benefits

He started a job in the industry as an Intelligence Specialist for the U.S. Army in December of 2011 at Fort George Meade, Anne Arundel County, MD. He is earning a competitive wage commensurate with his training and experience.
