Meet Vita

Workforce Challenge

Due to a company downsizing, Vita Laignel was laid off by her employer in the financial services industry. Eager to pursue other options, she contacted Frederick County Workforce Services to learn about the programs and resources available for dislocated workers.

Workforce Solution

Vita worked with a Career Specialist to develop an action plan that included attending job search seminars, exploring training options, and preparing for upcoming recruitment events. Upon learning about Back-to-Work Week at FCWS, Vita also decided to participate in these activities to increase her chances of finding employment. As it turns out, during Mock Interview Day (one of several Back-to-Work Week activities), Vita made an impression upon her mock interviewer that ultimately proved to be life-changing!

Outcomes & Benefits

Shortly after Back-to-Work Week, Vita's mock interviewer learned of a job opportunity that would be an ideal fit for Vita’s career interests and background. After being referred for the position, Vita interviewed with the prospective employer. She was subsequently offered the job, which she enthusiastically accepted. Vita continues to work for this employer and states, "I love my job! It's a great team, and I have the best boss ever!" Making connections can lead to great opportunities!
