Meet Beth

Workforce Challenge

After being laid off from her job as a Business Analyst, Beth was in search of a new career opportunity. With a certificate in Professional Human Resources and 31 college credits, she aspired to obtain a job as an Executive Administrator or Office Manager. To reach this goal, Beth decided to utilize the resources available through FCWS and improve her marketability to prospective employers.

Workforce Solution

Initially, Beth worked on improving her resume by taking a class onsite and partnering with one of the center’s many Certified Professional Resume Writers (CPRWs) on staff. Beth also sought to improve her interviewing skills. At the suggestion of her career specialist, she participated in the center’s Interviewing Success class and also engaged in the mock interview process with a member of the Workforce Development Board in addition to FCWS staff. The mock interview experience provided specific areas of improvement and also boosted Beth’s overall confidence.

Outcomes & Benefits

As a result of her revised resume, Beth began to receive calls for interviews, including one with Raytheon – the company that would ultimately offer her the job she desired. With her newly polished interviewing skills, Beth was able to favorably impress the five different Raytheon company representatives who evaluated her candidacy. After her fifth and final interview, Beth was selected for the position of Executive Administrative Assistant.
