Meet Kenyon

Workforce Challenge

Kenyon Crawford was a regular visitor to the Workforce Development Center at Eastpoint while in HVAC training through TAA. He made frequent use of the computer resource lab and the RG Steel resource specialists. Kenyon received help with his résumé, job searches, and applications. After applying for a job with the local utility company, Kenyon came to the center and explained the interviewer had told him he should work on his interviewing skills and re-apply. The staff helped Kenyon with mock interviewers and assisted him with applying for the next opening with the company.

Workforce Solution

Kenyon was interviewed for the job again and was hired for the position at $18.68 an hour with benefits. Kenyon came in and was extremely thankful and professed his appreciation to the staff for helping him to not only find the position but to help coach him through the mock interviews and to help him gain the confidence needed in the interview process to succeed. Kenyon stated to the staff, “I can’t say enough good things about the support and help you all gave to me.”

Outcomes & Benefits

Kenyon was able to utilize NEG to provide funds to purchase clothing for his interview as well as required protective clothing for his new job. He was very grateful that NEG provided him with reimbursement for transportation for his first two weeks of employment while he waits to get his first pay check from his new employer
