Meet Michael

Workforce Challenge

“Michael Jones,” a TAA customer, was employed with RG Steel for twelve (12) years where he worked as a Coiler Operator prior to the steel mill closing in 2012. Shortly after his layoff, he visited the Eastpoint Workforce Development Center to take advantage of the TAA program.

Workforce Solution

After meeting with his career counselor and conducting labor market research, the customer decided to attend the HVAC training program at TESST Institute of Technology. He successfully completed the program 9 months later. As Michael's completion date approached, he started the job searching process.

Outcomes & Benefits

As a result of the skills and knowledge that he gained during his training, he interviewed and was offered a maintenance position at an apartment community in Owings Mills, MD. The partnership between the customer and the Eastpoint Workforce Development center made it very easy for his successful achievement. In addition, his drive for reemployment was a strong factor as well.
