Meet Hartnett

Workforce Challenge

Mr. Hartnett was laid off from R.G. Steel after 36 years of employment at the steel mill.

Workforce Solution

He came to the Eastpoint Workforce Development Center in the Fall of 2012 to apply for Trade services. After an initial assessment with a trade counselor, an individual employment plan was developed for him to first get his diploma and then move into a training program that would assist him with his job search.

Outcomes & Benefits

He enrolled in the Adult Diploma Program at CCBC, beginning that process in January 2013. He also decided on a CDL B training program to prepare him for his next career. By April 30, 2013, Mr. Hartnett had completed both his diploma and the CDL B programs, and had obtained employment with the Highway Division of Baltimore County. Reemployment Trade Adjustment Assistant has helped him meet financial obligations while gaining experience that will allow him to advance within the division.
