Meet Mr. Coppage

Workforce Challenge

Mr. Coppage is one of many RG Steel workers who was laid off in 2012. He initially met with a Trade Counselor in the Hunt Valley Workforce Center. During that time he made it clear that he was only interested in finding a job.

Workforce Solution

After a few months of work search Mr. Coppage decided to pursue training through All State Career in HVAC. Mr. Coppage had experience as a Tractor Operator at RG Steel and previously an electrician. His transferrable skills working with tools and machinery would help with his transition to a career in HVAC.
Training began at All State Career on January 21, 2013. Mr. Coppage also met with a Career Navigator who provides additional supportive services funded by the NEG Grant. This grant provides transportation allowance during his time in training and supportive services once training is complete such as job search assistance.

Outcomes & Benefits

On January 2, 2014 Mr. Coppage received his diploma for HVAC from All State Career School. Throughout his training he received Honor Awards for attendance and was frequently listed on the HVACR President’s List for his GPA. Mr. Coppage is currently seeking employment with the assistance of the Eastpoint Workforce Center.
