Meet Taavon

Workforce Challenge

He was at his last job for 30 years and was let go. When he came to the Workforce Center, Tracy introduced him to an Early Intervention Seminar, résumé preparation and writing, interviewing strategies, and overall discussion on the services available to him.

Workforce Solution

Taavon felt supported and appreciated the support he received from his peers as well. He was able to discuss his personal story, share his experiences, and express the hurt he felt after having been let-go by a company with whom he had dedicated so much of his life. He received a call the same day by the union and they told him he will be able to get his old job back. Taavon completed all his training at the Workforce Center on March 19, 2014.

Outcomes & Benefits

He was able to go back to work in April of 2014. In the future, Taavon plans to complete high school and/or college, complete training program, start an OJT program, engage in incumbent worker training, etc. He plans on returning to work and to utilize the services as needed in the future.
