"John Smith" came to Orion Jones, Disabled Veteran Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialist, looking to change his career path from banking to retail. He didn't know where to start and need assistance with his resume and "next steps."

Workforce Solution

"Mr. Smith" attended several of the Columbia Workforce Center's professional assessment workshops. He continued working hard to fine-tune his new skill sets geared to retail employment and listened to the advice of his workforce professional. He was prompt in responding to all job leads he received and was always prepared and ready for an interview.

Outcomes & Benefits

His skills and talents fit with an opening at Best Buy, where he now is happily and gainfully employed. The Human Resource Professional at Best Buy, Mr. Michael Mahon, Back Office Lead, was so impressed with "Mr. Smith" and the workforce services offered at the Columbia Center, Mr. Mahon continues to seek potential employees from the Career Center. He most recently represented Best Buy at the June 27, 2014, Regional Job Club day-long event in Howard County that focused on hiring Veteran job seekers.
