Meet Allen

Workforce Challenge

Allen was laid off from RG Steel in June 2012. He looked for work on his own for five months but to find out that nothing was available.

Workforce Solution

So he decided to take advantage of the workforce services available to him through the Trade Program. Allen came to the Eastpoint Workforce Center to register for the Trade program. After learning about the program, he indicated an interest in training. He met with a Counselor who scheduled him for assessment tests and instructed him to conduct labor market research for his field of interest. Upon completion of his research, he met with a Counselor to create an individual employment plan to reach his career goal. He had decided to participate in the industrial maintenance training at North American Trade School. Allen also met with a Navigator who discussed computer skills, résumé, and interviewing skills needed for job search. The NEG Program also supported Allen’s training and job search with transportation assistance.
