Meet Bob

Workforce Challenge

Bob came to Eastpoint Workforce Center in December 2010 after he was laid off from his logistics management position.

Workforce Solution

He registered in the Maryland Workforce Exchange and received guidance from staff on work search strategies. He also participated in the Early Intervention workshop where he learned about the current trends in résumés and steps to preparing for interviews. Bob came to the center 4-5 days each week to diligently work on his job search. He received assistance from staff with tailoring his résumé and cover letter to different career paths.

Outcomes & Benefits

In September 2011, Bob obtained a temporary logistics position that ended in February 2012. At that time, he returned to the Workforce Center to continue his job search activities. Staff referred him to the POAC Jumpstart Program and Federal Job Search Guidelines where he gained more valuable information for his job search strategy. During this period of unemployment, he broadened his search by focusing on his transferable skills. As a result of his expanded search, he obtained a contractual position with DLLR in November 2012 assisting with the Trade Program. He worked with the Trade Program until July 2014 when he secured a permanent position in another state agency.
