Meet Julia...

Workforce Challenge

Julia D. was unemployed and seeking employment. She had requested advice as she wasn’t sure if her résumé and job search strategy were effectively marketing her brand to secure viable employment.

Workforce Solution

Baltimore County Public Library-Reisterstown Branch, referred the customer to the Mobile Career Center (MCC). Her résumé was critiqued and a few suggestions offered. Because Julia indicated that she often sent her résumé via email from her phone, a Plain Text formatted résumé file was created to avoid distortion. In the interim, Julia consistently utilizes the Baltimore County Workforce Development Center at the Liberty Center to assist in attaining her employment goals. It was recommended that Julia consider a more targeted approach for her job search strategy and to convey her brand to prospective employers. It was also suggested that specialized training be considered to enhance marketability for future positions.

Outcomes & Benefits

Although Julia secured interviews with various companies including T. Rowe Price and ADP, Julia D. received and accepted a full-time offer for employment with Verizon within two (2) months of receiving career services in November 2014. Her start date was in January 2015.
