Meet Wesley...

Workforce Challenge

In October 2014, Wesley was called at home and informed that he was being removed from the government contract which he had been employed for ten (10) years. Wesley was told to report to the parent company for security debrief and out-processing. He had feelings of shock and fear as to how he would be able to support his family and his next steps in finding new employment.

Workforce Solution

Wesley went to the Charles County One-Stop Career Center in Waldorf, MD, and was assisted by their staff which guided him to utilize the services provided by the Job Match Program. The Job Match Program offered guidance, resources, and the confidence Wesley needed to systematically find the career and job market which would provide the best opportunity for employment. Without Job Match, Wesley, believes he would have been aimlessly sending out resumes that would have been overlooked because they did not properly display his talent’s or target the employer’s needs.

Outcomes & Benefits

The guidance of the counselors at Job Match enable Wesley the opportunity to secure employment in his targeted market (Southern Maryland) with a major employer that supports the US Navy at Lexington Park, MD. His statement says it all, "The skills I have learned over the past five months of unemployment have given me the tools to succeed, the knowledge to build on, and a network with relationships. I have gained to remain employed and a tax paying member of our Southern Maryland community."
