Meet Anthony...

Workforce Challenge

Anthony B. recently relocated from another state and was residing at the Westside Men’s Shelter in Catonsville. He requested résumé assistance and employment advice. Anthony had previously been a substance abuse counselor in another state, but there was no reciprocity agreement in place with Maryland Anthony was working as a temporary laborer, but desired employment with sustainable income so he could leave the shelter.

Workforce Solution

He received résumé critique and revisions, MWE enrollment assistance, employment leads and community resource information. The Community Action Network (CAN) manages the shelter and referred Anthony to the Mobile Career Center (MCC). In addition, he received services and resources from the Department of Social Services (DSS) and CAN.

Outcomes & Benefits

Because Anthony had relocated from another state and was not familiar with available area resources, he was assigned a Community Resource Guide to help facilitate his access to services. Along with analyzing his existing résumé and making revisions, a personal branding statement was created to convey Anthony's extensive experience in the Counseling field. Moreover, Anthony received job search strategies, which included online job searching and networking.
