Meet Lorena...

Workforce Challenge

Lorena was unemployed and seeking employment in the healthcare field preferably as a Medical Technician. Lorena previously worked in the Washington D.C. market and desired employment closer to her home, in the Baltimore Metro area.

Workforce Solution

Along with critiquing and revising Lorena’s résumés and cover letters, she was referred to a Career Coach with Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH) Project R.E.A.C.H. Program. The coach discussed career opportunities at JHH as well their application process. The staff at Hunt Valley suggested she edit her resume down to one page. We also created a ‘Profile’ section in the upper 1/3 of her résumé, which included information about her experience contributing to writing lab procedures and her knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Additionally, we consistently sent Lorena public and private sector employment leads and she was also advised regarding salary negotiation and job search strategies.

Outcomes & Benefits

She also received and accepted an employment offer with a Towson lab that primarily serves nursing homes.
