Meet Anita

Workforce Challenge

Anita was employed but was seeking additional employment, which would provide more household income. Anita had limited computer skills, which is an essential skill that is needed for the online job search process.

Workforce Solution

Hunt Valley American Job Center (AJC) staff assisted Anita with revising her résumé as well as inputting important information in her Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE) account. Hunt Valley AJC staff registered her for a DEWD Professional Development seminar: "A Simplified Guide to Using Computers", to help her gain the necessary computer skills for online employment search.
She consistently utilized the computer lab to apply for jobs. Career Resource Specialists, Kellie Bass and Elizabeth Frederick, were always available to provide assistance with online applications as well as offer advice and answer questions concerning employment. Kellie Bass offered helpful tips, with respect to searching for online employment independently.

Outcomes & Benefits

Anita started using the services of the Hunt Valley AJC in March 2016. She started her new position with McCormick four (4) months later as a Production Workers with medical benefits being made available after 45 days of employment.
