Meet Candace

Workforce Challenge

Candace is a Prince George's county resident that suddenly had become a dislocated worker as her previous employer went out of business.

Workforce Solution

In need of employment, Candace reached out to the Workforce Services Division of Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation and received services through the Job Driven National Emergency Grant. The Prince George's American Job Center was able to help her her with their on-the-job training program (ojt) which encourages county employers to hire and train Prices George's residents.

Outcomes & Benefits

Candace interviewed and ultimately was hired by Highway and Safety Service Inc (a construction contractor in Brandywine MD) as a Receptionist/Office Assistant Trainee. After her four month training program ending in December 2016, she was promoted to permanent the status of the permanent Office Manager.
