Workforce Success Story Submitted By:

Christopher W.

Workforce Challenge

When Christopher came to AAWDC he had numerous barriers to employment. But he had a can-do follow-through attitude that willed him a great start as an apprentice for SHA.

Workforce Solution

Christopher wanted to become a professional driver. He enrolled in the SHA funded CDL B training program in June 2017. In July he took his driving test and earned the highest score on his pre-trip test portion that the instructor had ever seen. He earned his license and soon thereafter attended an AAWDC assisted job recruitment event at Chaney Enterprises. He was immediately invited for an interview. Lacking professional clothes, SHA supportive services funds paid for interview clothes.

Outcomes & Benefits

With his winning smile and great personality shown through and he interviewed successfully. Christopher began working at Chaney Enterprises as a Cement Truck Drive in early August.
