FAST FACTS

  • New Jersey’s highly skilled and educated workforce is a key selling point for the attraction of business and industry to our state; 36.6% of New Jersey residents have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • New Jersey has identified the key industries that are economic drivers for our state. The SETC sector strategies will focus on these industries. We are partnering with the NJ Department of Labor and workforce Development, which has invested in these sectors through a new Talent Network initiative. The industries are

  • New Jersey has a workforce of 4.497 million people, and an unemployment rate of 9.5 percent (June 2011), with 4.068 million employed and 428,400 unemployed.
  • New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the nation, with a total population of 8.79 million people and 1,195 people per square mile.
