WORKFORCE TESTIMONIALS

“If you would have told me in seventh grade that I would be flying to Chicago to speak at a national conference as a Senior, I would have told you that you were crazy! I was a bad child - bad grades and bad attitude. My life is very different because of the Workforce Investment Act grant that funds the Peer Tutor Work Experience Program. The opportunity to work after school helping people like myself to realize they can make better grades is great, and I appreciate having a job when so many people are out of work. I can say that since becoming a peer tutor, I have become more patient and have learned how to better communicate with people. I am proud of the fact that I have come so far!"

"NCAC provides great resources, tools for job searches, personal coaches ®gular [networking] meetings that were well attended, and more importantly, well hosted. Searching for a job involves having a certain mindset. The act of making the effort to attend the meetings & experience them really helps you to get into the mindset and inspires you to keep trying. There are a lot of available resources on the internet but I realized they were there as a business, not to help me find a employment. The same [was true] with sites that claim to help with resume writing, networking, etc. NCAC was the only resource I found that actually made a positive and definite difference to my job search. I did feel that their goal was to help me and not make a profit.

"It started with my phone call seeking assistance with a job search inquiry. It was the director of NCAC that encouraged me to come into the office and meet with a career counselor. This impressed me immediately, as I did not know with whom I had spoken to, until after my initial meeting with [my career coach]. I could not believe, with the unremitting phone calls the director must address, he would take time and show an interest… NCAC is an outstanding resource providing a positive force for many. It has renewed my faith in a system that I thought had lost the human touch. I do feel that this is a reflection of the NCAC staff here in Nashville, and they are genuinely concerned to helping others."
